Tintín
It’s likely that I will fail one of my classes. It’s so easy to zone out in class (which is 4 hours long ) when you don’t really know what they’re saying. It requires so much effort to pay attention that long. After a while all you hear is mumbling and the “shh” double ll sound.eshhaaa cigarishho casteshhano shhs hhhshshshshhh
I’ve also been very bad about drawing. And doing homework. And reading required texts. And finding motivation. Atleast I am having fun and learning some spanish? And making new friends?
I don’t really have any friends at school. Only one, and shes a brazilian exchange student. I usually just hang out with people in my residencia.
Rolando is in chile for his birhday weekend. I’m going to go with him to chile for a week or two when school’s out. And I think I am going to uruguay in a few weekends. To avoid buying a student visa haha it’s such a hasssleee to acquire one. The tourist visa I have is good for 3 months. June is the 3 month mark. If I leave the country and come back I have 3 more months. woooo
rrrrregaton del día
love diz songggg hah
I finally paid my 2nd month’s rent yesterday! After going to 3428340 different places and getting a million different forms, I was finally able to pick up my money from the bank. Gahhh some things here that should be simple and fast take foreverrrrr.
I spent the afternoon today at the mall in Alto Palermo with Rolando. I bought a new purse! No more ugly tourist purse! Very inexpensive too. The leather goods here are amazing. I also bought a new wallet. This is the first time I have splurged since I got here, and it felt great :p haha.
Tonight we drink cuba libres en la terraza! Y tal vez vamos a salir al boliche…
besosssss
got cut
Wow, what a night.
Alycia, Erin (another girl from St. Eds), her room mate Thalia (I think thats her name) from Australia and I were walking from our hostel to Plaza Serrano for some drinks. We were half a block away from 2 restaurants, but the streets were very dark. Erin and I were walking ahead of Alycia and Thalia. Next thing I know, some man tried to touch Erin’s arm. I turned around and saw this woman and man trying to calm us down and talk quietly and pull us to a dark corner. I flipped shit when I saw him grab erin’s arm because I thought “Oh shit, he’s going to try and get us to go into some creepy nearby door and we’re going to end up in some fucking human trafficking ring.” So I yelled NO NO NO! and the guy seemed to back off and he actually looked scared. I could tell in his eyes he didn’t want to hurt us, but I freaked him out and I felt my thumb sting a little.Thalia was dragged to the ground by the woman and they cut the strap of her purse and ran away. After all was said and done, I noticed my thumb had been cut, most likely a box cutter. Apparently the woman made it seem to Alycia and Thalia that the man was from a cartel and that she was trying to help them. Basically, they were trying to get us all in the corner so they could take all of our bags, so i guess it’s a good thing I flipped shit and made them run away. Luckily, less than 1 minute after that happened, we frantically ran to the corner near the restaurants and saw a guy that lives in our hostel cross the street (hes one of the few that lives in our hostel that speaks english) he helped us calm down and flagged down a taxi for us. The taxi driver was sooo nice and refused to let us pay for the ride back to our hostel. The guy who owns our hostel came immediately and dressed my tiny wound and walked with us to the police station. So now I just need to figure out if I need to get a tetanus shot. Fuck.
I don’t want to tell my parents, because I don’t want them to worry. Now I’ve learned my lesson. Don’t let your guard down, don’t walk down streets where there aren’t plenty of people(and arent well lit), and don’t speak english loudly.
fml. atleast we’re alive and not in a human trafficking ring.
Last night we went to our first real club. So crazy ! We left at 5:30am and it was still bumpin’. The drinks at the club are a lot more expensive than at the kioscos (convenient stores). The clubs here are called “boliches” which is funny because there in no bowling involved. Right now I’m sitting in my room in the dark bc the electricity in our room has been turning off and on today :/ realllllyyy annoying. It’s only in some of the rooms though. I went grocery shopping for the first time today—the selection here isn’t that great, but that’s also because I don’t know what a lot of the stuff is haha.
Pues, Ciao!
I feel like I’ve lived here forever! I love this city, especially my neighborhood. I’ve finally mastered the way of the Subway (el subte). I had orientation today and met people from all over the world, very awesome. But i don’t want to start school—I just want to live here and shop and eat and go out all of the time! haha. We’ve gone out every night so far, love the night life. Alycia and I have already made a decent amount of friends, despite the fact that sometimes we don’t understand what the other is saying haha. Beer comes in liters and it’s very affordable. There’s an argentine beer called Imperial that i really like (not to be confused with costa rica’s imperial) and a brazilian beer called Brahma that’s also really good.Another thing i like is how chivalrous the men are here. They always pour your beer in a glass for you and go with you to the bathroom and wait outside. And of course they open doors as well. Me gustaaaa. Oh and wendy is spelled wendy. heheh (jejeje)
I got my schedule today and I’m missing one class so I have to return tomorrow and pick out a different one :/ oh well!
Here are more snapshots of the past few days!
Love and miss ya’ll
I made it to Buenos Aires alive :p
It’s a beautiful city (we haven’t done enough exploring yet, though). And everybody and their mother is attractive. The accent here is a lot harder to understand than I anticipated, but I know I’ll catch on eventually.
Last night (pues, como midnight—despues de una siesta) we wandered to Plaza Serrano which is basically the 6th street of the neighborhood (Alycia and I share a bedroom in a hostel in the neighborhood Palermo Hollywood). I had some strange drink made out of ice cream, very tasty. We got back around 1:30 am and we were chillin’ in our room and we hear a knock on our door. A guy who lives in our hostel asked if we wanted to smoke mota to sleep. So he is our first official friend, and I must say, la mota de Paraguay es buenissimo. I slept like a baby. A joint en español argentino es un güendi? wendi? (sp?) very useful information.
Anyway, we are going out tonight and he’s gonna show us what’s up. Apparently there are bars open until 8am. wtf?
Here are some quick crappy pics I took of our hostel. I haven’t really had time to play photographer.
great stuff.

Dear wisdom teeth,
Tomorrow you will no longer live in my mouth.
